If you are attending a class that requires you to provide your own equipment and materials, the following list is an example of a good starter set.
Tube paints:
Watercolours: Winsor and Newton Cotman
Acrylics: Winsor and Newton Galleria
Oils: Winsor and Newton Artisan Watermixables.
Colours:
Ultramarine
Cobalt Blue
Lemon yellow
Cadmium yellow
Alizarin Crimson
Cadmium Red
Burnt Umber
Titanium White (Acrylics and Oils only)
Brushes:
Watercolour: Cotman round numbers 12, 6, and 2.
Oils and Acrylic: Galeria filbert numbers 12, 8 and flat number 2.
Paper:
Watercolour pad: Cotman 16”x12” or 20”x16”
Oils and Acrylic pad: Galleria acrylic 16”x12” or 20”x16”
A more affordable option, more suitable for oils and acrylics: Heavy weight cartridge pad min 200gsm A3.
Please note: Our studio is a turps and white spirit odour free environment. Anyone wishing to use traditional oil paints will need to purchase an odourless cleaner such as zest-it.
